Guest
In OSCommerce if you have authorize.net and paypal enabled, when the customer checks out, they are connected to those websites and back to my site once complete. Is that right? I'm concerned in case I need an SSL certificate
Guest
I also wanted to know how seo friendly this software is.. Thanks!
ptrau
Yes...they come back to your site if properly configured. You should use SSL for your site because OSC will use it from the time the customer logs in protecting their personal info on your website. As ar as getting an SSL Certificate, I recommend it for consumer confidence and piece of mind. It's relatively cheap marketing. ...and what is seo? "Aliiiiive, it's alive, it's ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!!" Cerberus
You should use SSL for your site because OSC will use it from the time the customer logs in protecting their personal info on your website...........and what is seo? I use it from the minute they hit the site - not just when they log in. It's all about psychology. If the user feels secure in their shopping then you have a chance of securing their order (pun not intended). I use worldpay which has it's own secure server for the credit card processing but I recently installed a secure cert on my site. My orders have definitely increased since it was installed, and I'm certain it is because the shopper feels safe while shopping. You don't have to have one if your payment provider has a secure server (if they don't, what are you using them for?) but it certainly instills confidence with the buyer. Ask yourself, "am I sure that my online shopping at this site is safe"? Any doubts and then you visit somewhere else - your customers will do the same! ptrau, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation
