Guest Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Hi All, I have taken all your advice onboard & have done a re birth of the site. It's still basic os but I'll make changes as I learn more. Please let me know what you think. Thanks for your time BUZZ COFFEE
TerryK Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Hmmm.... Though I disliked the red and green color scheme you had going on with your original site, it did have an 'OOMPH' factor to it -- it grabbed people's attention -- and I think you've lost that with this rendition. The red and green have an edge to them when used in combination. If you get the combination RIGHT, your site will still have the vibrance that a 'buzz' invokes. I think that the pale yellow in the header logo washes away some of the edge and, sitting right beside the white and red 'BUZZ' logo, looks a little choppy and disconnected. The pale pinkish/red/beige in the infoboxes also doesn't work for me. Try a bold color behind the infobox header text. (i.e. red or green to match the store colors), and try the links maybe in the opposite color? I also think you've got the words 'Buzz Coffee' too many times at the top of the screen. First with the logo, then as the page title, and then again when you welcome them to the 'Buzz online coffeeshop'. Overkill, maybe? The clipart coffeebeans also look out of place, especially with the use of real coffee beans in the header logo. You could really make those beans work for you! Enlarged to the right size, with the right text over them, they could feasibly be used as your 'buy now' or 'add to cart' buttons. Anyway, just a few of my thoughts -- take 'em as you please. :) Terry Terry Kluytmans Contribs Installed: Purchase Without Account (PWA); Big Images, Product Availability, Description in Product Listing, Graphical Infobox, Header Tags Controller, Login Box, Option Type Feature, plus many layout changes & other mods of my own, like: Add order total to checkout_shipment Add order total to checkout_payment Add radio buttons at checkout_shipping (for backorder options, etc.) Duplicate Table Rate Shipping Module Better Product Review Flow * If at first you don't succeed, find out if there's a prize for the loser. *
Chance Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 Thats a whole lot of text above the scroll. I would think you would get better performance by actually showing products (as in, product images) on the index. I would recomend putting "What makes Buzz Different" on a seperate info page. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. Hard and Cynical: How to Make a Horrible osCommerce Site Warm and Fuzzy: How to Make an Awesome osCommerce Site
charles Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Chris, why do you keep pointing people to http://www.buzzcoffee.com.au/catalog instead of http://www.buzzcoffee.com.au the second one is even better.
