Flat rate, best way, table rate

I have some difficulties with the meaning of the followings:

 

flat rate

 

table rate

 

best way

All of the phrases you posted are defined in the language file for each shipping method (/catalog/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/) and can be changed to suit your needs.

 

In my case, I use table rate for some of my regions, and zones for others. I have defined shipping as, for example:

 

Overseas Air Mail (used table rate)

Overseas Surface Mail (used table rate)

US Air Mail (used table rate)

Canada Post (used region-based zone shipping)

 

Because mail within Canada (where I'm located) is significantly different from one coast to the other, I used a contribution to set up region-based zones. In it, I defined the west coast provinces with one weight-based formula, central provinces with a second, and the east coast with a third.

 

Shipping to the US and overseas are pretty much the same regardless of which state or country I'm shipping to, so I used the table rate to set up my calculations for those. To set up different table rates, check this post:
