Dragonmom Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 I am about to be unable to sell for two weeks to two months- I don't know how long. My shop has other content, and I don't want to use the "down for maintenance" contrib- I just want to prevent people from sending me money for items they won't recieve I want them tobe able to window shop though. I figured I'd make a new file saying all this, and calling it by an existing file name. Where is the best place to break the chain- shoppingcart.php? psst... wanna buy a wand?
♥yesudo Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 have a message on your frontpage and maybe replace the login page ? Your online success is Paramount.
♥yesudo Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 can't the elves run the shop while you are away ? ;) Your online success is Paramount.
Dragonmom Posted March 11, 2004 Author Posted March 11, 2004 Well, i want new customers to join, as they gain access to a forum after they do that. but my items are custom made, and I won't be able to setup my shop again for a while, no telling how long :( I'm the only elf here! Anyone? psst... wanna buy a wand?
Guest Posted March 11, 2004 Posted March 11, 2004 There is a contrib within the contributions section that allows you to remove the "add to cart" button from your store. If you used this, then modified your header to remove all links to checkout (not a hard job) then no one will be able to buy. i also believe there is a catalog only contribution, not sure how it works, but its along the same lines, basically stops people from checking out. Worth looking at both of them. HTH
bobg7 Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 This contribition might be what you need Hide Add To Cart Installed Contributions: CCGV, Close Popup, Dynamic Meta Tags, Easy Populate, Froogle Data Feeder, Google Position, Infobox Header Entire Row, Live Support for OSC, PayPal Seal with CC images, Report_m Sales, Shop by Price Revised, SQL Updater, Who's Online Enhancement, Footer, GNA EP Assistant and still going.
Dragonmom Posted December 28, 2004 Author Posted December 28, 2004 I found a better solution- now that I am back in production again I added a contrib called enable/disable categories I have customisable versions of everything I make, with lots of options, and I have lots of already made items. I copied the custom items into a category. When I am out of town selling my wares, i disable all the readymades, and enable the custom stuff only. I get home and have one or two custom requests logged and ready to keep me busy. Works real well! psst... wanna buy a wand?
Daemonj Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Sorry that I am late but I would have set the product quantities to 0 using PHPMyAdmin and then set Admin > Configuration > Stock > Allow Checkout to false. Then place a message on the front page explaining why all products are out of stock and when to come back. "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - A. Einstein
Dragonmom Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 well, i don't need to take everything out of stock- only the already-made things that I am taking with me to the shows.. It's heartwarming to come home to custom orders! :) Enable/disable categories is a pretty useful mod. psst... wanna buy a wand?
