Admin Password reset

Ok if u want to flame me then go ahead. Im sure it has been coveredomehwere and i did search but i just cant find an answer. I have oscommerce running but i forgot the password to the admin panel (where u add products etc) and i need to know how to reset it. I have ftp acess and my host is runing Cpanel so can some good soul help my dumb ass please.

without knowing how/what you are using to control access, it is pretty tough. if it is via the cpanel where you set file permissions, just go in there and remove protection, then reenable it with a username and password again. if via admin access or something of the like, which stores a password in the database, then you can go in and remove/reset the password in the database itself.

yes i am using cpanel and i have acess to database. If i remove htacess file i can get in woth out a pass but is there a way to set it again. And where in the database can i reset it? Can you be a bit more specific please? As you cant tell im new at this.

If you move or delete the .htaccess file and go back to your control panel and set up protection again it should just create a new .htaccess file.

ahh . I cant seem to find where on the cpanel i can enable the protection again point me the right way? :)

Like under what category is it under Category Modules etc. or i will have to enable it through host's panel. if so where wud that be could you be specific? thanks a lot guys
