Help with META TAGS / Search Engines

Guest

Recommended Posts

Im kinda new to OsCommerce, I've been searching throught the boards and contribs. To find a way to add meta tags to my pages and get them listed in the search engines.

I've look at the contribs- Header Tag Controller, Dynamic Meta Tags, & Meta Tags. Im not sure which one to use or what the preferred method is.

I also dont know how to check if my site has been visited by a spider or bot.

If anyone is familiar with this topic please help get started on the right path.

Thanks

Chris

You host should have a analysis tool that will break down who visited your site, as well as much more information. But, to me, an easier method is to use the User Tracking contribution. You can see at a glance who visited your site and what pages they looked at. One of the most useful contributions IMO.

header tags controller

I have added a file which when run will populate:

meta_title with product_name

meta_description with product_description

for all existing products.

Keywords will still have to be done manually - so that you can target specific keywords.
