Cookies problem?

Okay, I wanted to use cookies rather than having the session ID in the url, for several reasons. I want spiders to index the entire site. I want to be able to refer to specific pages and url's easier.

Here's the problem - everyone, including myself, kept having osCommerce give them a page about not accepting cookies. My Internet Settings were set up just fine. There was no rule prohibiting cookies. So I turned cookies off for now.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any thoughts or work-arounds?

What I have done is this:

Set everything in configuration->sessions to false except 'prevent spider sessions'.

turn on search engine friendly urls

install the sid killer contribution - this will reconginse when a spider is visiting your site and kill the session var.

I personaly don't surf using cookies. I just don't, so there are others like me.

The above will make the session id almost dissapear - have a look at my site, the only time that you can see the session id in the url is when you first enter the site and when you are switching from http to https (apart from my drop down boxes - but i keep meaning to get round to sorting that one out)

Hope this helps a bit

Sam
