Guest
Hello Michael, Nice job on the site. I like the 'purevalue systems' part of the logo but the 'i t' part is hard to read. Maybe it's just me but at first glance I didn't make out what it was saying, until I read the Title of the page in the title bar of my browser that is. You have nice custom icons at the top. I like the way you have the featured product on the bottom left. Definitely get points for making it different from the standard osC layout. About the only thing I can comment somewhat negatively on is the categories box on the left. It seems too big because there's a lot of white space in it. I'm not sure if you are planning on adding additional categories in there. But it seems a bit 'bulky' for lack of a better term, with only 3 categories in there presently. The site isn't flashy but for sites that serve a certain purpose I'm a firm believer in 'less is more'. It's not cluttered and is very easy to get around. Overall, I think its a nice site. Take care! And good luck w/ the launch!
zoomer
Pretty nice. You do need to seperate your column content somehow - your eye really wants to combine all that white space together into one big area. Large images of your products would be nice. Might be different in the uk but its "swap-out" not "swop-out". Might be different in the uk but "discount prices" makes more sense than "discount cost". Really good job. AndrewC
Images look great, the only problem is i find my eye drawn away from the main products. I would be inclined to remove the links to the manufacturers site. Get the content on your site rather than sending your customers elsewhere. By linking to the big guns you are diluting your page rank.
j33osh
Thanks for the reply's fellas, I appreciate you taking time out to post. The general feedback seems to be that the site layout is OK but we could do more with the "main category" area, and that there is to much "white" space? I to am a believer that some sites can look very "busy" and we wanted to keep our site simple, to the point, and to a degree make buying from us a pleasureable experience ie make it as simple as possible in the punters eye! The site, much the same as every other site will always be a work in progress as we are always looking for ways to deliver that extra little bit of content, but deliver it in a way that our prospective client remembers...............I hope that makes sense? So, thanks so far for the feedback and please keep it coming as we genuinely appreciate anybody who will take the time out of their schedule to assist us in improving our site. Cheers Guys :D Michael Stand Back, Light Your Pipe, And Admire Your Handy Work!!!

PetterK
Nice design. Would you consider sharing how you coded the 4 "boxes" on the mainpage (just below "Welcome guest...")? I have something similar on arktiskpudder.no/butikk but I used the contribution "Include HTML and Text Boxes" which might break sessions from what I read... ausipodskins
I find it amazing that in your categories box you use an outline of an Apple imac but don't actually have them in your catalogue. shouldn't you just stick to an outline of the beige box? j33osh
I see your point, but would macs not be classed under hardware???????? The image is irelavant, I could have had an image of a SAN at the end of the day Hardware is Hardware. Thanks for your imput Michael Stand Back, Light Your Pipe, And Admire Your Handy Work!!! ausipodskins
and so a Jaguar dealer could have a pict of a ferrari - after all a car is a car, right. I don't think so. If hardware is just hardware, then why not just use an image of the sort of hardware that you actually sell? I wasn't aware that anyone else made a computer that looks even remotely like the imac. Let's face it, you used that particular image because it would attract customers, even though it's not something that you sell. You won't use a pic of a beige box because it looks downright ugly. what you are doing is just plain misleading and deceptive.
burt
How do you know that all of this guys "mac" stuff is just out of stock. It's quite sad to say "you used that particular image because it would attract customers" - 99% of Joe Public wouldn't even know what the image is. If you really think that a 100px x 100px image is what makes people purchase then you need a reality check! I know exactly what it is, but I still think it looks like a lamp. Dakota
There is no one thing that catches my eyes. Images are almost icon-size. It took me a while to figure out what you are selling. The op right box has too much white with plain looking icons. People(at least I) am used to gorgeous OS X icons.
Magnus
ausipodskins you do realise you're just showing us all that you're a bit of a low life loser if you're pointing out little crap like how he has an imac icon when he doesn't sell imacs. You oughta have a cry because I'm sure that this guys gonna make so many people mad because they'll say oh look I have come to computer site look they have imac icon oo cool lets click on it. Awww no imacs oh no. Woe is me. The world is ending.
j33osh
Hey Guys, Thanks for all of your imput! (and even the muppet who was banging on about the "mac" thing..................probably some failed web designer sitting playing with his hard drive!!!) We have taken on board what everyone has said and will be making a few changes (oh and the "mac" image wont be one of them!!!!!) as we are as was suggested subliminaly trying to get people to come to our site by strategicaly placing small images in different areas that will somehow trigger a hidden buying process in our prospective customers mind that will get them to buy a pc when they assumed they were buying a "mac"! Yes we are that clever and have been rumbled!!!! I would laugh if it wasn't so pathetic! :D Anyway, keep em comin so to speak. Cheers Guys Michael ;) Stand Back, Light Your Pipe, And Admire Your Handy Work!!!
wizardsandwars
I happen to agree that the Mac icon is a bit misleading. Before i even read the thread, I thought, "Cool, they have Mac stuff". Anyways, I Ilso think the left column could use a little continuity. The contents seems a bit sporatic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
