naomicatgirl
I tried one of the modules that i THOUGHT would work, but it did not. I am using osCommerce 2.2-MS2 Help! Naomi
FIMBLE
Hi, Why not use .htaccess if you want to limit viewing of the site to password holders only? Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
naomicatgirl
Okay, i can do that! I tried putting a password on the shop directory, but then it kept asking for the password for every page, and it was REALLY annoying. How would i use .htaccess? If you have any online tutorials that you know about, point me there! I'm going to do a search now! Naomi
FIMBLE
>htaccess affects all the files in a particular folder, so if you added to the one already in catalog, it will protect all the files and folder under it ie with catalog in the path. There is a proram called php access, you can doewn load it from www.jadles.co.uk/software/phpaccess103.zip you can easily add more passwords and delete old ones Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
lilithfiend
hi fimble, i'm trying to do the same thing as naomi. i downloaded the phpaccess program that you recommended. however you'll have to create your own usernames & passwords if you use the program. is there any other way to make people login or sign up before being able to view the products? help would be appreciated. thanks! FIMBLE
Hi, I dont know what or where, but there is bound to be a program out there somewhere that can give you this. Try looking around the web or the GNU project they will have something i am sure. ptrau
How would someone register as a customer if they can't see the store first? There is a contrib that will not show the prices until a user is logged in, but it will not hide the store. Third party member management sytems will not work without a ton of program integration. jenawade
I have the opposite problem. I just clicked a button on my control panel to add the cart to my site, followed the tech support instuctions to set up the shared SSL, so no manual install on my part, and yet I have to enter my login/password to view the catalog and can't figure out why or how to turn it off! If anyone figures out how to add it to their store, can they let me know so I can do the opposite and get rid of it?
naomicatgirl
I tried the phpaccess program you suggested, but it didn't work. I can still enter the directory without a password. I tried to create an .htaccess / .htpasswd file myself, but i got errors when i tried to access the directory. Is there not a contribution that would require the user to login before being able to view the products?
