osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Redesign, please check it out

I have been working on a redesign of my current osCommerce store.

The new store is at http://69.57.143.155

I have changed the style quite a bit, and I tried to get away from the infobox thing as much as possible (Burt, your opinion on this one please).

I have streamlined the account creation process, and I have bug tested it as much as possible myself. If anyone wants to make an account and try it out, i would appreciate it. The site is running on a dupe of my live DB, and it will be deleted when I move the dev over to live. Feel free to create an account and order away using the Department Purchase option- the credit card company only accepts transactions from my live site so thats not going to work for you.

I had to combine a lot of functions, and I added a few category and product listing enhancements as well as a quite a few custom pages for products we can't exactly sell online (like rescue tools, etc). I would really appreciate any testing anyone can do on product listings, product searches, etc as I combined a lot of this (like manufacturers and search into on box, etc).

I would really like input on the color scheme, overall flow, etc as I am not so hot at these things. I have added descriptions to a lot of things that my customers have been confused about in the past, but I am concerned about parts (like account creation) being too wordy. Your input on that please.

I know that at the moment popup product images are not working (I have not changed this, I think its because the site has no domain for the js function and will be fine on a productive server) and the UPS XML tracking is not working correctly. There may be a couple product images missing, but thats cool as this was a dupe from my live version.

The old store can be found at http://www.thurstonequipment.com if you would like to compare.

Thanks in advance for your time.

My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you.

:D

I like it. It is actually very much like a site I recently made (other than colour scheme). I would try to make you "module boxes" (eg whats new for, shopping cart etc) have the same style as the infoboxes (I like the black underline on those).

I've PM'd you the site I recently made so that you can compare the looks! Great minds think alike! I think I have even used the exact same button set!

One thing I did immedialtey notice is that there is no easy way to get back to your index page...I didn't notice the breadcrumb right at the top until after.

Overall, very good, I like it, I'm not a fan of "dark" ecomm sites, but given the nature of this site and it's products I think it goes together well.

Hey, Chance --

I like it, especially the rotating headers. You've got some really nice ones in there!

Color scheme works well, and the TEES logo looks much nicer than the last time I saw it. :) Good job.

The only thing I really wasn't too fond of was the special price in green. I think it would look better in red or orange.

One typo, too, on the Police Grade Duty Belt (XXL), it says:

This is a normal stocking item that usualy ships within 48 Hours.

'Usualy' is spelled wrong. (Should be "usually"). Also I'd put 'Hours' in lower case to conform with the rest of the sentence.
