nsusa Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/domain/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. I installed the latest version of osCommerce. After the installation I get this error message. I tried to change the file permissions to "no write" at all but it always jumps back to 644 which includes "Write" permissions. Has anyone seen this? How can I change it? I tried FTP and the File Manager via CPanel. Thanks Christoph
Guest Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 file permissions 644 are the proper settings, as that way you are the only one who can write to the file. could be a server error. try to just set to 444, although this shouldnt have to be done.
nsusa Posted February 21, 2004 Author Posted February 21, 2004 444 is not accepted either. So, I guess it is a problem with the server?! Christoph
nsusa Posted February 21, 2004 Author Posted February 21, 2004 I talked to the host and the system does not allow lower permissions other than 644 (which makes sense). But why is osCommerce complaining? How can I stop this? Christoph
Guest Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 I'm having the same problem with the host: http://www.b-one.net The message shows here: http://www.landata.org/shop/ I'm waiting for response from B-One.
ozcsys Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 444 is not accepted either. So, I guess it is a problem with the server?! Christoph How are you changing the permissions? If you are using cpanel to do it you might want to try doing it via you ftp program instead. There is a bug in cpanel that will sometimes keep any permission changes from taking effect. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
