nishooter Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 Hello, I am a business owner who is new to ecommerce. I would like to use osCom to start a webstore. I have read and printed the new installation sheet from the Wiki Comm. Site. I am trying to understand it but it seem very foreign to me. I have a webhost to use and am finding it very difficult to get to software on the server. Can anyone please heop or point me in the right direction. I would greatly appreciate it. 1quicksi Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 Well I'll do my best to help but you have to promise not to shoot the messenger :P First off you are going to need a FTP program such as Cute FTP and be able to login to your account on the server. Next you will need access to phpMyAdmin to access MySQL. Don't worry this is the easiest piece of it. Now we need to figure out if you want the store to be your front end to the web site or if you will have an intro page. 241 Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 then you will need to install to the root. the default is to install in a directory called catalog, so instead of uploading the file structure as is upload everything from within the catalog directory. there is a tutorial on this in the wiki docs and a link in my signature No longer giving free advice.
