Guest Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 I've been doing the self taught PHP thing, so I guess I'm a newbee. I feel given the amount of work that I put into this site without any knowledge of this code, it looks great. But I'm not a customer. I'd like the site to be simple and user friendly. Get customers to what they need or help them find what they need without confusing them. K.I.S.S. is the way to go. I'm looking for Ideas, suggestions, or anything else. thanks. rudy www.veedubdesign.com
QueueIn Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 I would move the ORDER info to your header. Move the create account into an info box thus moving the welcome to top of page shifting everything up. you want to view as much as possible without scrolling. Might want to move info box to footer as well. Good luck Mike
Chance Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 A whole lot of text on the index page. I would recomend more images, possibly project cars or nice rich pictures of car accessories? Its a pretty much stock OSC layout, might want to bite the bullet and bang a couple nights out of layout and design. I dig your product line though, but I don't see many accessories for my S4. I might be sending you an email for a wheel quote in the future :) My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. Guest Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 Thanks for the input, like I said I'm new to PHP. I've noticed there is no room for errors in the code like HTML. I did want to change the page around but I didn't want to mess around with my live site. I created a test site on a different database to mess around with. How do I move things around and add boxes without meesing up my site. thanks
Chance Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 The way most people start out is with the BTS or STS template systems. You can search the contributions for them, they are pretty popular. I personaly am a fan of BTS, but for someone who is not too hot with php you might want to look at STS as it seems to be a little easier to get into (with a lesser degree of customization). Guest Posted February 21, 2004 Posted February 21, 2004 I followed your advice on moving the page around. I haven't added the sign-in to a box yet. Still working on that. I've been playing with the CSS on another copy of OSC I have. It's not as bad as I thought.
