Hi, thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

This is very strange - a while ago I had light blue as the background colour inside my boxes! Then I didnt like it so i changes it to light purple - now, two weeks later it has suddenly gone back to blue(and i havent changed anything in the stylesheet)...

Now, what makes this ever stranger, is that when i go to my site on my computer(as well my housemates pc) - its light blue!! But when i go on my secretary's PC - its still light purple?????? Why would it do that... :blink:

Ive tried to delete and edit the stylesheet - but nothing seems to happen and nothing is changing anymore!!!

Please anyone, have any idea's!! What colour does it come up as on yours???

Thanks in advance for the replies!!!

I see a very pale purple, I would guess the site has been cached either by your web server or by the host or maybe you are running your own proxy.

Hi Nick,

Definitely blue mate, I've had a look for you. I could be totally barking up the wrong tree but it sounds to me as though it is a DNS or caching problem somewhere. I am having similar problems with customers who use Freeserve. Freeserve DNS is still attempting to point them to the old servers despite me changing my hosting company over a month ago.

Just a thought. Cheers ;)

:P Hmmmm...

Thought about that...thing is...i deleted everything out of my temporary internet files folder...and all three computers are sharing the same internet connection - so doesnt that basically cancel out the fact that its the host?

The fact that you are seeing purple is really puzzling me, as i cant get the blue to go away!

This is so annoying....

Hmmm...one is seeing purple...one is seeing blue...

Geesh....

Whats going on here? :blink:

Oh dear! Just checked, definitely blue. It is peculiar as I am obviously getting the same problem as you. I do have quite a bit of networking experience but just can't put my finger on whether or or not it still might be an ISP caching problem. I know you said you have 3 computers but I'm wondering.

What OS are you running on your 3 machines? Do you use a server with DHCP or is just a basic workgroup?

:P Gee, thanks for your help!!! :D

Um, yeah, running the three computers off a workgroup - no DHCP server!

As for my ISP, ive got a wireless connection with them, and i have a static ip which they convert to a different ip which is used across the net! So i gather they're using DHCP to convert the IP's! If you understand what im saying!

Lank strange how the one computer next to me see's blue and the other purple! Me=im still seeing blue!

Gonna try make some major changes...maybe it'll re-cache it then so something!

Oh dear what a palava!

Thx,

Nick :ph34r:

It's possible that one of the computers you used had an earlier version of an OS or a browser...or was set at a lower screen resolution...or just had a junky monitor. A good friend of mine looks at my store and the colors do all sorts of strange things, but he's using very outdated software.

:blink: Hmmm...good point - sorry, just saw u asked what OS's im using! We'll, the two that are seeing blue are running WinXP - the other Win 98!

Now yeah, maybe its the OS's! Thing is - how do i fix it now! No-matter what i do to my stylesheet nothing seems to change! I can even delete the stylesheet and the site still comes up the same! Logically it shouldnt work without stylesheet! Right?

As i said - it used to be that light purple - just out of the blue went back to blue which i had in the beginning!

Strange...my pc is haunted...

:o Ahhh... thx wizard...

But nope...dont have and never had such folder/file???

I used to be able to change whatever i wanted in this stylesheet - and it used to change accordingly! But not anymore!!!

The reason i actually found this out is because i installed the contribution that allows you to change the colours of individual boxes! When the boxes were'nt changing at all i reverted back to a backup and tried to change the colours black to purple(which are now blue - like i said changed back to blue outa nowhere) - and this was before i installed the contribution!

Hmmm...any other idea's anyone? :ph34r:

Hello again,

You could try running ipconfig from a DOS prompt and clearing the DNS Resolver Cache. Do this by going to a DOS prompt in Windows and typing ipconfig /flushdns Grandmother and suck eggs springs to mind but just in case you didn't know. It may or may not fix the problem but anything is worth a try.

Strange because your question was about gocomputers.co.za, wasn't it?

Anyway the gocomputers.co.za HTML source show this

<!doctype html public "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html dir="LTR" lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>GO Computers</title>
<base href="http://ngrcomputers.za.net/">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css">

And this line:

<base href="http://ngrcomputers.za.net/">

I would correct, before trying anything else. Depending on which domain you are trying to use of course, which I am not sure about now anymore.

(I was a bit in a hurry my previous post: I ment the "base href" lines are absolutely the same but relatively different. :lol: )

Posted

:o Ahhh...ok - i see what you saying but thats not it!

www.gocomputers.co.za automatically re-directs to www.ngrcomputers.za.net

There are no files on the gocomputers.co.za - just the re-direction!

I also have a parked domain called www.ngrcomputers.co.za - which also re-directs to www.ngrcomputers.za.net!

The reason for this is i was going to call my site ngrcomputers.za.net - which after a bit of research wasnt viable anymore - so i called it gocomputers.co.za!

Since then ive re-named the site back to ngrcomputers, and registered a new parked domain as ngrcomputers.co.za which re-directs to ngrcomputers.za.net!

So EVERYTHING is done from www.ngrcomputes.za.net - my control panel, files EVERYTHING is on that domain! There are no files/settings on www.gocomputers & www.ngrcomputers.co.za as they just re-direct!

Is that what you wanted to know??

Thanks for your help!

PS - what colours are you seeing?
