hello.

Currently my store lives here:

http://www.sonicterror.net/catalog/index.php

I have made many modifications to this store.

I am going to be moving hosts soon.

What is the best way to move the store to this new host.

What files will need to be changed? i am using version 2.2 i believe.

A step by step guide would be wonderful!!!

Thanks for the help.

hope to hear from someone soon :)

I did this several times.

You need to backup your database before moving to local hard driver or to new host.

Then transfer all shop structure (files and folders) to new server and configure the things accoridng to your new host settings (both configure.php in /catalog and /admin)

Finally restore your backup database sql file in admin area.

ok so

1. i back up the db from the admin of the current store

2. grab the entire catalog folder from the current store

3. upload the new files to the new host

4. adjust setting for configure.php

5.

Finally restore your backup database sql file in admin area

How do i do that (the #5)?

If your database backup as SQL (not compressed) is under 1 MB you can restore your database in admin section.

Before this, you must upload/copy your backup file to

/catalog/admin/backups

Then go to;

Tools -> Backup

Then select your backup SQL file and click Restore...

If you familiar PhpMyadmin I advice to use this tool to restore your entire backup.

Wondering how successful this was. I'm doing it for the first time as well. Did anything else happen that I may need to be aware of, and what exactly needs to be changed on configure.php?

Been using osC for about 6 months now - still new to php, but have learned a lot through using this software. So be gentle :)
