Change permissions of image dir. to 777

Was told this is what I might need to do since i keep receiving the Categories/Products pg. error at the top..."Error:Catalog images directory is not writable:/home/tagnet/accounts/dir0/hsu/www/catalog/images/

 

Exactly how (where) do i do this? Please :(

Your ftp program should allow you to do this.

Thanks for resonse Alan. However, i'm a novice and i have no ideal what you are talking about! i maybe over my head doing this.
