bigko Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 Hi Could someone tell me where I can find the database? I'm trying to install a contribute but can't seem to find the OSC database that I need to alter. Thanks
Guest Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 the database would be the DB OSC's install puts in your MySQL. By the sound of your question, you might not have MySQL installed. You will need MySQL and PHP installed on your server to make this work for ya. Hope that helps! DF
bigko Posted February 19, 2004 Author Posted February 19, 2004 Thanks for your response. I installed mysql on my computer (mac) but I still cannot find the databases. Is this something that is only available on the server? What I mean is does the database reside on the server and if so, how can you edit it. Sorry I am a newbie at this! Thanks again!
wizardsandwars Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 normally, most people use an application called phpmyadmin to administer the database. This is a web based application. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
dkelts Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 I'm in the same situation. Running admin from a Mac, someone set up the server/store for me, and I need to make DB changes. If myphpadmin is a web based application, then I should be able to run it through my web browser, no? What typically is the url for accessing this application? If I'm on the wrong track, tell me. But I still need to make DB changes and can't really stop seeking the answer to this until I get it. How do I make the DB changes required for some of the contributed modules? Thanks!! David
bigko Posted February 29, 2004 Author Posted February 29, 2004 Hi, I don't know if this helps, but is the database on the server? If it is then go to your webhost control panel and there might be a sql 'button' there. There should be in the 'folder' a phpadmin or some type of admin for the sql database. There you should be able to edit the database, at least that is what I did. hth, Chris If you downloaded your database to your hard drive, you have to download sql from the web and then go from there..if you need detailed information on how to do this I might be able to help.
