vintageland Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 I don't understand how my admin is protected from outside hackers. I can access my admin from any computer and I don't need a password. Also my current page uses a cgiemial form to preorder t-shirts. This way I am prepared for the "pay by mail" orders with my inventory. If I incorporate this in OSCommerce is it a security issue. You can see how it works here in my non OSCommerce site here: Pay by Mail Thanks, Matt
Guest Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 you need to add security to your admin section, there are contributions on this, most hosts provide a way of locking the folder via the cpanel, if they have one, or if you have shell access, you can do so on your own with an htaccess file. cgiemail works, as long as the form is properly secured, etc and you have the right permissions setup.
vintageland Posted February 18, 2004 Author Posted February 18, 2004 Ok thanks. What's the correct permission for the cgi file?
Guest Posted February 18, 2004 Posted February 18, 2004 cgi is by default hidden from view. it is the script which causes the problem, your best bet is to ask your host about the version of cgi form / script you are referencing. they should be able to tell you if it is the latest, and point you in the right direction for an updated one, if necessary.
