lbeech Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 For osCommerce to process credit cards, a merchant account must be set up that will interface with osC. What do people do about processing payments for phone orders, mail orders, e-mail orders, walk-in customers? What about people using QuickBooks and processing some payments through it? Is there a one-account merchant service solution? We currently have a terminal for processing credit cards manually, but would really like to automate more of the sales process. What is everyone doing? Lynn
gnarly parts Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Most merchant providers offer a virtual termial as part of there services. This allows you to process credit card in a browser. That means phone, mail and people order can be done. Always looking for a way to improve my sites.
Chris Dunning Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 However, mail/phone/internet orders are generally charged a much higher rate than walk-in orders where you see the customer face-to-face and actually swipe the credit card. I would look into a processor that allows you to differentiate between the two types of transactions so you can get the lower rate for swiped cards.
