Well, first of all, when I use the vedeck to install, I have permission errors.

Once Ipower web fixes those, then when I use the admin interface, it errors out everytime I try to update the configuration for the store.. I get :

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: 98082() in /home/crochetl/public_html/ecommerce/os/admin/configuration.php on line 72

when I enter the Postal Code. I have deleted and reentered the cart 4 times now.

Would you recomend doing it as a manual install over using Vdeck?

I wonder how old your "install" is anyway. If you're just now starting a cart, it's probably a good idea for a manual install. Besides, it can't get much simpler than it is now.

However, if you want to use the script, check out the configuration.php in /ecommerce/os/admin/ That "function" almost looks like a zip code :)

JoviMom,

I'm new to the game, but just thought I would give you some info about my experience with Ipowerweb.

I just signed up with on the 7th of this month. Since then, I have been communicating back and forth with them regarding the permissions as it was set incorrectly during the oscommerce install. The good news is that it looks like they fixed the problem. Before the fix, I was getting like 404 forbidden errors from the server trying to use the user and admin interface.

AlaneinHilo,

Regarding the catalog file, I had to change the settings to show system files on vdeck. Once I changed the settings to show all system files, I was able to see all directorys of oscommerce.

Hope that helps.

HI,

How did you set it up anyway? I have done for a couple of weeks only. And it seems fine right now.... Is there anything that you can specify to me so that I can tell you more.

Thanks,

dada :)

Howdy,

Just thought I'd throw my two cents in:

Since you are basically starting new, do a manual installation of oscommerce. The two most important reasons being: the osc version on ipowerweb is much older than the current 2.2 milestone and if you try to follow osc documention (for the install, contributions, etc.) it won't jive with the layout of a vdeck install.

A manual install is much easier than you might think...plus once you get the hang of the internal workings of osc (and don't worry, you will :P ) a manual install will save you many headaches and time in upgrading and modifying...

Good luck!

I'm just trying to figure out how to do a manual install.

I already know it wont work off of vdeck, but isnt there coding you need to change within the files in order for it to work?

jynmeyer,

The install is very easy. You have to first understand that vdeck is simply a administrative that ipowerweb provides for it's users and that it has nothing to do with os commerce. On vdeck, all it does is provide you with a link to the catalog and the admin page of oscommerce and that's it.

Follow the instructions as provided with osc 2.2 and you do not need to change anything. You would essentially have two versions fo osc running if you do not remove the old osc provided by ipowerweb.

I actually figured out the upgrade at one point, and then I got a ton of errors in my cart.

I emailed ipowerweb about them and they somehow dissapeared (I'm not sure if ipowerweb had anything to do with it- for some reason I think it fixed itself)

But after looking around I am noticing a lot of missing things.

I dont have all the capabilities that others do- refering to a friend, a difference in layout, etc.

And I am at the point of thinking maybe I need to upgrade again- could you briefly tell me how to get started again? I downloaded it and now Im just lost trying to get insturctions on where to start to upgrade..
