Repairing incorrect install

I'm working on Madrake 9.2. I made it through the install of mysql-4.0.18, openssl-0.9.7, modssl-2.8.16, and apache-1.3.29. All by compiling from source. The everything seems to have unravelled. The PHP install fails saying I don't have Perl installed, even though I do, and that the apache is configured wrong. I think maybe I setup the certificate wrong when I had the choice for ROS or DOS (??) I picked 'R'. It seems I chose 'R'ongly.

So, how do I go about fixing this? If it were window$, I'd uninstall everything and start all over again. I don't even know how to do this with a source install.
