Chance Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 When I first looked at your site, I didn't think it was osCommerce. If thats what you were going for, good job. Thats a whole bunch of lines though, its almost like infobox to the extreme. On page load, there is a wierd parse error that only shows up in mozilla based browsers. You have some sort of wierd redirect going on? Also, your page title is broken. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. TerryK Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I tend to agree with chance -- your site is quite 'boxy' and the graphics all seem to meld together, which makes it hard for the eye to find a focal point. I think you need to at least add some 'white space' (or dark blue space in your case) :) between the columns. I also had to scroll horizontally to see your pages at 800x600 resolution. On your product pages, I thought the font you used in your descriptions was too large. At that font size, the bright white against the navy background is hard to read. You might also want to tighten up your color scheme. You have a lot of colors in play: dark blue bg, white text, red/green availability message, yellow/red arrows in category descriptions, light red buttons, etc. I've been taught that a good rule of thumb is to use about 3 main colors that work together. ♥yesudo Posted February 16, 2004 Author Posted February 16, 2004 Thanx for the input Terry & Chance. I have done some work on the homepage - based on your comments - would you mind, if you have the time, just taking a look and let me know what you think. I have also adjusted the text font size on the product pages. Thanx greatly. Your online success is Paramount.

Chance Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Yep, a marked improvement. BTW, did you intend for your "Gift Voucher" and "Email reminder" boxes at the bottom of your page just above the footer to only extend about 55-60% across the main table? No - I am trying to get them side by side but am failing miserably <?php include(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'sendtoafriend.php'); ?> <?php include(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'giftreminder.php'); ?> What am i doing wrong? ♥yesudo Posted February 17, 2004 Author Posted February 17, 2004 mozilla based browsers Hello Chance, Is there a webiste where I can view yesUdo.com via different browsers - for compatibility? Thanx. Your online success is Paramount.
Chance Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Nope, that wouldn't work because its the browser that renders the page. However, you can download an array of browsers to test your site in. Mozilla can be downloaded at http://www.mozilla.org Firebird/Firefox (another mozilla based, XML browser- my personal favorite): http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ Opera can be downloaded at: http://www.opera.com/ There are many others, from text only to platform specific. All three of those listed above are free or have a free version in the case of Opera. I highly recomend you test your site thoroughly in a mozilla based browser as Mozilla is much more strict with bad code than IE, and many errors that you don't see in IE will show up plain as day in Mozilla. devosc Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Too much vertical scrolling for my liking on a 1024x??? screen, by the time I scrolled down I forgot what I was looking at. Overall, first impressions were good, my hat goes off to you for allowing me to adjust the text size via my own browser (FireBird). "Any fool can know. The point is to understand." -- Albert Einstein

jimgun Posted March 20, 2004 Posted March 20, 2004 Although I'm not a great fan of this kind of blue for a site... It works. However, I would make the links a very light shade of blue (very light opposed to white) to balance the design better. - The buttons need work. They don't match the site and really are poorly done gifs... - Good work man!
♥yesudo Posted March 20, 2004 Author Posted March 20, 2004 thanks jimgun - yeh i need to work on the buttons. Your online success is Paramount.

ozcsys Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Site looks nice but you need to check your links along the bottom. They seem to still be pointing to your local devolpment address and not the correct one on your server. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Guest Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Looks good - one thing that i would mention is I got a java warning from your newsscorller when entering you site. I personaly don't allow anything java from the internet - there are to many security holes and I kept getting embedding scripts trying to mess with my machine. For 99% of you customers im sure it is fine. Just thought id mention it!
