Guest Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 Just wondering if anyone has plans to create a module for yahoo paydirect? Quote
Guest Posted February 29, 2004 Posted February 29, 2004 I did look at this, but it is impossible to do. Yahoo PayDirect requires that you log onto their site "TWICE" and create a link for each individual product you want to accept payment for. The result is html code that has an cryptic sequence of letters and numbers for a simple dollar amount. In summary, they want to be hard to work with. Now, I hate turning a customer away for anything, but I can promise you that I will not go log in twice every time, and btw...it is two different passwords. And, I'm not going to create a special link for every product. They are impossible to work with for anyone that sells a large variety of products. My recommendation to anyone is "Do not accept Yahoo PayDirect" In addition, I emailed them about sending payment info with IPN and got a generic answer. I replied back and told them that the answer they gave me did not answer my question. They did at least take the time to look into my inquiry. I am posting the convo that occured: First Inquiry: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, Thank you for writing to Yahoo! PayDirect. I only have over 1000 products, which makes it unfeasable to create product links. I can't use this service unless there is a way for me to do this. PayDirect. Thank you for your feedback regarding Yahoo! PayDirect. We arent able to offer this feature at the moment, but weve noted your comments and will pass them along to the right people. We appreciate your suggestions its the best way for us to learn what you want and how to make our service more useful to you. Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care. Regards, Yahoo! Customer Care For assistance with all Yahoo! services, please visit: http://help.yahoo.com/ Original Message Follows: ------------------------- Thanks for trying, but you did not answer my question. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, you have to look at the business end of it. Why did Yahoo create PayDirect? Yes, of course to make money, but there is more. They created PayDirect mainly so they could have a means to take auction payments. When Ebay bought PayPal, Ebay changed the PayPal system to stop processing payments for Yahoo auctions. Thus, Yahoo had to come up with alternate means to handle online payments. Right now, PayDirect does what they intended it to do. So, with that in mind, do you think that they are going to make any effort to support us with our own commerce site? BTW, if you have not checked in to it, PayDirect works great if your site is hosted on Yahoo. But you can be sure that your features will be limited and they won't be running osCommerce. Quote
