boosy90 Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 Hello I'm new to Oscommerce. I was just wondering if I can have multiple stores on one server. I host a numeber of websites that are interested in using this software. The stores are in no way related to each other. I would like each store to have their own database and their own admin. The customers are not shared because they are the customers for different peoples stores. Can I just copy the catalog and adim files into each dir and run the web setup for each domain/store. Or am I totally out to lunch... I have one store working. I have read some of the contrubutions and it seems like you can have multiple stores but they seem like they share one admin. Can I have more then one admin. So each store owner can manage their customers and products? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Regards D.
Guest Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 i haven't done this yet, but i plan to have a have a "production" shopping cart and a test/development version (and i know there are others who do this as well) ... so i don't see why you couldn't do the same thing for multiple clients on the same server. just install each one into its own subdirectory, including the admin. client1/catalog client1/catalog/admin client2/catalog client2/catalog/admin etc i would create a separate database for each client so they can't mess each other's up -- make sure each configure.php points to their individual databases. disclaimer: i have absolutely nothing to do with the osc support or development teams, i'm probably totally out of line making such a recommendation, but i'm pretty sure that should work. good luck.
