Alter Ego Comics Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 Hi folks. I'm a relative novice when it comes to web site programming, so forgive the basic questions. I have an e-commerce site that is up and running now, but I want to replace my exisiting site/shopping cart with osCommerce. Will my current site still be operational and viewable to visitors while I configure osCommerce? Any assistance would be appreciated. Marc Bowker
OceanRanch Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 You should have no problem running your current site along side of your new osCommerce site as long as you build your new site in under a seperate folder such as osc. You current site is accessed via www.yourstore.com. Your new oscommerce store would be accessed as www.yourstore.com/osc. When you're ready to cutover to your new store you would probably just include a re-direct html command in your current index.html or index.php to point to the new site (i.e. www.yourstore.com/osc/index.php). This is just one way of accomplishing the parallel effort. I'm sure you'll get a few other (and perhaps cleaner) ways of doing it. HTH Tom
