Customer carts being merged-HELP!

I have seen this topic before (months ago), but after hours of searching, I cannot find it. We have a serious issue with a high volume site where on occasion, one customers cart gets populated with another customers cart which then continues into the checkout process. Our customers are of course responding to this issue with not so favorable comments! We have also seen where one person places an order and upon completion, someone elses name is on the order although the correct address and ship to addresses are on the order.

 

In testing the other day, I had 5 ship to addresses in my address book of people I did not know, but are customers of ours.

 

Using 2.2 MS1 dated 03062003.

We are on our own dedicated server, but have around 8 sites on the server, 3 sites running osCommerce in live environments. We are operating under one shared Verisign certificate.

 

We have been using the cart successfully on another site for a few months on this server and basically copied the files to the new site, which was using a paid subscription type of cart. We then went live with this re-do on January 30, 2004. As I said before, this is a fairly high volume site with tons of traffic.

 

We are also having problems where people cannot create accounts on any of the three sites. This problem is also sporadic. I have posted that topic separately in this forum.

 

We really need some serious help here!

You probably have all the shops sharing the same temp dir for sessions and / or cache files. Don't. :)

 

Set them seperately and see if the problem goes away.

You could also try storing the sessions in MySQL?
