profotograf
Hi. I have a question regarding the databases in MySQL; I used to use PostNuke which used MySQL similarly, which allowed me to install more than one version with different database prefixes so that I could run two different installations on my virtual server using one MySQL database. Due to the limits of my provider, I have to pay 6,00 Euros per MONTH for another database, which would just house the 2nd shop I figured there must be a way to have a prefix usage for the databases, since this is such a well thought and well planned system. Was that planned somewhere in the Installation? I didn't take the chance of trying to change the .SQL file and really messing up everything. in PostNuke, the table "users" could be prefixed as standard with "nuke_" so the table would be called "nuke_users" and the system would use the prefix "nuke_" for all actions regarding tables. I had two systems one using prefix "ar_" and the other "mm_" and could have two simultaneous systems which didn't tread on the other data, since the prefixes were different. The tables were the same... but with different prefix, so it was cool to be able to run two systems without having to buy another database with the provider. Is it possible with oscommerce? if so, how? I host other people with different shops on my system, as their virtual host server, but we share 1 DB... I wanted to have a shop for my photography, and I have another group that sells spiders and reptiles with their shop. At the moment I can only have the spider shop up, and my photo shop I cannot install or it will overwrite the spider shop database. Any helpful hints??? or must I pay the 6,00 Euros per month to make this work?
