jbeech
Shopping cart programs like OSCommerce have evolved into store-building and order systems which are highly flexibility and possessing high order merchandizing sophistication. Unfortunately, for small merchants like us, there's an important gap. I refer to good order tracking and fulfillment processes - along with back-office integration with accounting software like Intuit's QB (QuickBooks). We're very fortunate that an ongoing effort at creating a QB mod is coming along. For those unfamiliar with it, QuickBooks provides a nifty small business multi-purpose accounting solution, unfortunately it isn't designed for retail order fulfillment. Intuit has another piece of software expressly for this purpose, and there are other 3rd party efforts. However, this highlights a limitation of OSC, i.e. how are merchants (many of whom are mail-order or Internet specialist) supposed to handle the occasional phone-order, or even the walk-in order? wizardsandwars
There is a manual entry contribution. In fact, there are a couple now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. rezilient
Hi. Can someone please updated me regarding the integration with QuickBooks? I bought QuickBooks to take care of my e-commerce sales tracking, and to manage my business but as many of you know it is difficult to use for order fulfillment. Any other accounting software out there that you all use? Thanks! Reza www.Rezilient.com
jbeech
Thanks wixardsandwars, I didn't know what it would be called, manual entry, eh? Seems logocal enough once I think about it. I'll go look now. by the weay, do these things work somehting like POS (point of sale) software does? Just idly wondering why there are several different contributions (as you mentioned). Oh well, the answer probably will be revealed when I get off my lazy butt and go look :>) Thanks again! John Beech - GM (and janitor)
