ouikikazz
I am currently in New York State, I plan on running a strictly online business and in order to obtain products for my site I need a reseller #, how does one go about doing this? I know how to get my company inc/llc thats easy enough but is there any other steps besides incorporating and obtaining credit card processing+a website to make my business functional? on-disk
Your Reseller number for most Wholesale accounts is your Tax ID number. You need to Contact New York State to get that number. Basic steps for starting a business will include a DBA - Doing Business AS - Can be obtained from your County Clerks Office. You'll Need the DBA for your bank if you want to accept checks written in your businesses name. Your NYS Tax ID number. Go to http://www.tax.state.ny.us/sbc/ for more info If you plan to have employees, you will also need a Federal ID number. I would suggest you contact your local Small Business Development Center. Check their site at http://www.nyssbdc.org/ They should be able to give you the one on one support you will need with all this and then some. Don't go into business without them. They have helped me countless times.
kenle
I actually have the same questions, but I live in Massachusetts. I already registered a LLC in Delaware state and has my online store operated from Massachusetts. So I do have the Employer ID number (EIN). I think this is the same as FIN. I work by myself and dont' have any employee. So what are other legal things that I need to be aware before starting my business? It seems like I need to obtain a seller Permit for my online retail shop. Anything else I need to know? This is only my side job. I do have a full time job in a company. Thanks all.
