Integrating osCommerce with Coppermine?

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have successfully installed and modified Coppermine (a php open source photo gallery). I was hoping to use osCommerce to be able to sell images to visitors. I have successfully installed osCommerce, but I am not sure how it is intended to be used.

1 - From what I can tell osCommerce is not just the shopping cart but an entire store where you add products for sale. What if you wanted to have a shopping cart that integrates with your existing site. Lets say a user selects an image in coppermine and then clicks add to cart - could I then pass the required information to osCommerce, or do I have to just link them to my store where they have to find the same image among many others as a product?

2 - Can it be used without SSL certificate if I intent to use paypal accounts (and hopefully use paypal's SSL?)

Thanks any help is greatly appreciated. Also if you know of documentation that may explain how osCommerce is intended to operate, I'd appreciate it.

Hi,

How did you go about integrating Coppermine Gallery into osCommerce? Care to post the code as to how you did it or post it as a contribution?

Sorry if my comment was misunderstood, I have not yet been able to incorporate os into coppermine. I have been successful at modifying coppermine's look and feel to match my site's, but have not yet figured out how to integrate it with os. I was wondering if anyone had info about how you would go about using os as a shopping cart for an existing site (such as coppermine).

I would tend to put the Coppermine images into osCommerce rather than the other way around. I believe that there might be a contribution to do this with Gallery.

You could also put osCommerce buy_now buttons into your Coppermine site (I assume; haven't used Coppermine). This would allow you to switch between the two. You would need to have FORCE_COOKIE_USE enabled in osCommerce.

Cool - I'd be interested in the latter, but how do I send the image name and number to my store? Do I just add it to the URL as a parameter? Do you have an example of such a buy now button?

Thanks,

S

You can enable buy_now buttons in admin > Configuration > Product Listing and then just look at any product listing for an example. You would have to custom write the part that handles the image name/number.

Hello Stephan,

we are also looking for a solution to put our pictures into osCommerce. There is a ongoing, very interesting project at http://www.coconutcity.com/shop .

They are using the IPTC-data of the picture to feed the data into the database of osCommerce. In my opinion this is the way to go, because you can use an archive programm like IMatch to caption and sort the picture archive with IPTC data. From IMatch you can export the database, which has to be imported in the osCommerce product database.

We are only users, but we can contribute with italian and spanish translations to such a project.

I would like to know if anyone has been able to integrate Coppermine Gallery into osCommerce? If you have, would you please post it to the contributions area as I know there are many besides myself who would like to use this powerful gallery inside osCommerce.

@ Thomas

hey, sounds interesting: but first - what is IMatch? sounds like an apple-tool? I'm also working on a mac-system, using iViewMediaPro for the whole pre-web-process incl. iptc-capturing.

in general, I am also trying to merge a php-galleryscript (4homepages) with osCommerce. The Adminpart of 4homepages and all the upload-, iptc,-etc-features there are very handy. Though, there's no working checkout in it, so I have the Idea to link the usermanagement and checkout-abilities of osCommerce to it. 4homepages runs -upto now- with an own Database, so I think, there should be a "bridge" or something similar to connect these two. - Can anybody give a hint???? Actually I'm trying to merge the db's in one - no idea, if this is the right direction...?

Has ANY one got any further with this solution ? As in this thread there is no real links to any fixes.

I am looking to connect Coppermine and OSCommerce as well and would prefer the solution to have a OSCommerce feel that can somehow use coppermine as a portal.

Thanks

Guy
