Update of Version

Tekton

Recommended Posts

I?m using an old version of OSCommerce and I need to change it to 2.2MS2 version(the latest). But I?ve done very much changes in the template and in the payment methods. So I need to them to remain the same. Making it in simple words: I have to update the sytem, remaining the same visually. Is that possible?

AFAIK, no, you'll have to make all of the changes on the new version that you made on the old version.

NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit.

If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

So, to make the update I?ll have to replace ALL the files of my "catalog" folder? I have some special payment methods that are my biggest issue. They HAVE to maintein the same way. And, about the SQL table: When it ask for install, it haves an option 4 update version or something like that. If I do it using this option, the SQL table will remain exactly the same? I really would not like to put in my 3000 products again...

Thank you 4 your help so far!

your best bet for upgrading, is to setup another store in another folder (i do all mine on the localhost first) and install all the contributions necessary to make it function the same as the old store, with all the graphics, etc. do a SQL Diff from the old database to the new database to see what is different and try a migration (to the development store, not the live one) and see how it all goes. you will be doing lots of work on this project, not a simple how do you do things . .
