RickChase
I want to thank the community for not only providing us with a wonderful shopping system, but the ease-of-use and installation is beautiful!! But while reading through the forum, I get the feeling that I am one of the few lucky ones. I downloaded the zip, uploaded the files, went through the install process all in about 10 minutes, spent about 16 total hours changing colors and graphics and layout, and now the store is open for business and everything went flawlessly!! This is a wonderful package!! I am sorry for those who are haing problems with it, but I honestly don't know how anyone could. Very simple to install, configure and operate. I just can't say enough great things about this system!! Good work!
1quicksi
While I agree OSC is extremely simple to setup and use a vast number of users really have minimal computer experience and OSC does require some basic knowledge to install. This is not jsut a simple download click on an executable and it self installs. But if you read Wiki and use the search feature it should not prove too difficult for most :D knowledge base | Contributions | Search
Chris Dunning
I think a lot has to do with your host as well...most of the "discount" hosts out there won't allow you to run osCommerce (register globals off, limiting some php functionality, no sql support.....and usually little or no customer service). Guest
Key word . . . "discount" .... I have always stated, you get what you pay for and a great many people think that just finding a host who charges next to nothing and then setting up a store that they will make money. they need to have desire, love what they are doing, have a niche in the market place, have the backing to keep it going through the tough times, etc, etc. also, some due to their 'skills' really need to have a part time guru on staff, even if for a few hours a week, until it is totally smooth and no code is being modified. Chris Dunning
...or enough courage to do it themselves and a good set of backups.
