sunshine-x
I've finished a second revision of my store, www.customreceipts.com. Some of the changes include the larger images, and new colors and buttons. It's still pretty much stock osCommerce, but I think it looks pretty nice! =) I'm really looking for feedback or advice, or even suggestions for products. Someone pointed out I should mention there is some adult content, so if you're easily bothered you might not want to check it out. Thanks!! Guest
if you only have 1 manufacturer do you really need to keep the manufacturers infobox?
sunshine-x
if you only have 1 manufacturer do you really need to keep the manufacturers infobox? Hm that's a really good point!! I'll get rid of it! Thanks for the input. John

John I guess I should mention my store is live - so please don't place orders unless you'd like to receive products! If you'd like to test the full flow for purchasing, I'd love some testers and would provide a same-day refund, but please be sure to mention something like "TESTING PLEASE REFUND" in the comments. Thanks everyone! =)
YorkshireSteve
Hi, Nice novelty product - Never see that one before! One thing I noticed which would make a huge difference: Add a 1px border to your images in the product listing. Because of the light background, and white preview images, the edges don't look quite right... Also, the preview images aren't very clear - Resize them a bit (Smaller) and smooth them. Steve. Guest
Like the product, but you need a logo to add credibility to the site - check out logo design websites for ideas. Have you checked the site on a 800x600 screen - its all over the place, your boxes widths need to be smaller. (a lot of people use this screen size still) Generally it looks unfinished. Thanks for the suggestion - I'll check that out. Perhaps I should make the images a little smaller, they'll fit nicer at that res. I'm not sure about the logo - do you think it would really make a difference? I'm reluctant to spend money on the design.
TerryK
It would definitely lend some professionalism to the site. There are companies that do logos for $25 -- some are good; others not so good. On one of the mailing lists I belong to, a number of members had theirs designed by the same $25 company with some nice results. Sorry, I don't know the company off-hand, but if you search google for logos $25, you should get a few results. Check their work and see how it looks before committing. I've changed product_info.php to display the image in a new table row, under the description. This corrects the 800x600 problem, but at higher res like 1024x768 it doesn't looks as good as it did, now that the items appear under the descriptions. What do you guys think? Maybe there's a way I could detect the resolution in PHP and change the position automagically? Thanks for all the input - I really appreciate it so far! =) John
Guest
A Knob Piercing would be a Nob Piercing unless it's referring to a door knob... Good luck when you start on the design.
sunshine-x
Well what can I say. A classis website with interesting products not. :o? 1/10 Tom It's great posts like this that really help other community members. Thanks for going out of your way and taking the time to insult my work. I do appreciate the way you just skipped past any constructive criticism and got right to being hurtful. It's what I was really looking for - insults, and you've delivered nicely. Posts like yours help to make this feel like a community, and make me want to spend my time helping others here by sharing my knowledge. If you have any other helpful comments, I'm all ears. Oh - I'd ask you what 'classis' means, but I can't speel too wel eithur and figure you meant 'classy'.
Chance
I wouldn't worry too much about that guy, he made about 20 posts in a row with one line "ratings" for people's stores, and he wrote them with all the zest that he commented on yours. I really like how his site is a domain redirect to a feedback form. Useless. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. sunshine-x
I've made a change - I have samples on the site of real scanned items. Rather than make a custom page, I decided to make a 'Samples' category and changed the PHP so that prices and "buy now" buttons aren't displayed if an items name contains "SAMPLE". What do you think? Does it make sense? Is it intuitive? John
