Multi-sized images

i've searched the forums but apparently my internal search feature, i.e., brain, doesn't want to play :)

 

i'm putting together a small catalog of jewelry. my dilemma lies in using images of different sizes.

 

for example, the printed catalog shows an item that has 5 different styles. these 5 items are neatly packed side by side. one of the 5 items is enlarged within the inset to see detail, so that the one item appears zoomed in on and the other 4 sit in the background.

 

basically, i want to be able to upload different sized images and have php resize in a proportional manner on the fly. my server is replete with all the ammenties to do this, however, i'm not a coder, so perhaps know not what i do.

 

also, i've tried UltraPics, however, it seems UP wants to leave html image markers for unused images. is there a work around for this concern?

 

and lastly, with the UP contrib, there is an optional HTML editor package. is there a good tutorial or doc on using the wysiwyg editor?
