Deleted/recreated language have lost products

Hi

I was trying all sorts last night to solve my displaying 0's problem - and I have managed to solve that. I now have a store which displays ? signs, monetary values etc. and only has one language and one currency.

However, one of the steps I did to get to this stage was to create a second language called UK English - then it looked like I had two default languages so I created German and made that default then deleted the original English and then made UK english the default and deleted the German - leaving me with UK English still saying en and directory english. This seemed to solve my other problem - however when I to to 'New Products for January' although the pictures and prices are listed if you click on them it says there is no such product.

So I renamed UK English back to just English and still my products are not there. I created a new product and that is fine.

How can I either amend the products so they exist again or delete them?

I have never used mySql or phpMyAdmin and I am not sure that I have all the info I need to install it or what to do when it is installed. I have used MS SQLserver - but please assume a complete newbie when replying...

Thanks

Christine

You could manualy amend the information in the sql, It sounds like the language id has gotten messed up during all your changes, the original english should have been id=1 for language.

No longer giving free advice. Please place deposit in meter slot provided.  Individual: [=] SME: [==] Corporation: [===]
If deposit does not fit one of the slots provided then you are asking too much! :P

Thanks Steve

Presumably I can somehow amend the id on my current English to 1 as I only have one product against this at the moment and I could delete that before tinkering. Or I could clear out the product tables if I could get to the sql (although that does seem scary)

However, the big question is HOW do you edit it directly? through the File Manager or do I need phpMyAdmin or another tool?

I have CuteFtp and that seems fairly easy to use - but I looked at the config file which comes with phpMyAdmin and I am not sure what to change.

The only info I have about my OSC db (because my isp installed it for me) is the stuff in the configure.php files e.g username, password, dbname...

TADA!

I am SO pround of myself :D

Managed to get phpMyAdmin working - and managed to delete the products.

I first changed the ID to 1 on the languages though to see if that would solve it and that had no effect - at least it doesn't seem to have an effect - should I have left well alone  ? I guess only time will tell...
