osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Is osCommerce overkill in this scenario?

Hi all.

I've just finished setting up an osCommerce site and I am facing one question that googling and skimming through the forum didn't quite help.

My site will be selling seat tickets (only 1 kind) for some convention and.... that's it. Therefore, it seems to me that osCommerce can be a bit of overkill. I'm obviously not looking for most of the rich functionality provided by osCommerce here.....

So, how do you guys usually go about solving this kind of problem? Honestly, I don't even need a user account feature since the users will most likely be one-time only. For something this simple, am I better off coding myself using php or can I still benefit from osCommerce? Bottom line is that, I just couldn't figure out how to manually implement the modules provided...... :\

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

osC probably is overkill...but that doesn't have to stop you. Coding something yourself will take much longer than adapting osC to fit your needs. Removing the things you don't want customers to see would be pretty quick and easy. If you can't figure out how to manually implement the modules after reading the forums and the Wiki (aka documentation or help file) then find someone who can. I'm sure you could hire a programmer without too much trouble.
