Hello,

I have had my oscommerce sites running now for months. All of a sudden today I get the following message :

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/host174/public_html/rc/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

This happened to all my Oscommerce sites :

www.rchaven.com

www.dotcom-builders.com

www.discountcarvideo.com

www.rc-wholesale.com

www.tomekrc-wholesale.com

That is just a small percentage of the sites I have made and sold to my customers.. PLEASE help me with this fix..

I was told by my Hosting company they just enabled phpsuexec tonight and that is what caused the problem.. Any help PLEASE

This is the message I received from my Hosting company :

PHP Suexec will be enabled shortly on all servers. So if you are running any php scripts please check with the software developers to ensure your scripts will continue to work under these conditions, and if a fix is needed for this please udate your script, or contact support AFTER you have contacted the software developer with the fix information.

OMG Please help!!!

your hosting company needs to give you more information about php suexec, and you also need to find that out.

else, move hosts . . . i am glad i dont have that problem, as i have numerous sites on my servers

by the way, go change the properties on your files

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.. The problem is that I can't move hosts.. I have 176 websites running on this hosting company.. 48 are Oscommerce Websites...

I changed permissions on the files but nothing seems to work.. Maybe I don't know what combination to change them to..

What information do I need from my host?

seems to me, if someone has 176 websites running on my web servers, i would jump through hoops to keep them happy! whom do you host with, so i dont recomend them! how did you change the permissions? do you have root access to the server?

your host probably changed php to run as cgi, and that has an effect on .htaccess files, and bunches more! means php is no longer a module, you will have to use the SetHandler command in the .htaccess files

Hello,

Well the problem says :

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/host132/public_html/products/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

SO I was thinking that I had to change the permissions on the configure.php file.. I Chmod the file to 777, 755, 604, 704, 404, 644

None of them worked.. Driving me nuts...
