Duplicating the UPS Shipping Module?

Well we've decided to change from a table based shipping module to the real deal - pulling rates directly from UPS. The module seems to be working fine, but has a few quirks that I can't stand!

 

First, it doesn't seem to understand that Ground shipping isn't available to places like Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. It just shows a ground rate, and I can't get that to go away. I think there's a contrib called "UPS Choice" which will allow me to remove "Ground" as an option globally, but that won't help me when a customer from Iowa wants to use Ground. Is there any way to figure this out?

 

I'm thinking that what I need to do is duplicate the UPS module if possible - that way, I can have one of the UPS modules for domestic areas where Ground is available, and then another UPS module for all other areas where Ground is off limits. Does anyone know how to do this?

 

Secondly, and just as important, it doesn't know that PO boxes are off limits. I can tell my customers that I can't ship to PO boxes, but the store will still allow someone to use a PO box without creating an error. I think I may have to modify the code so that it returns an error when there's a PO box entered in the address. Anyone know of any other ways to tackle this problem?
