Guest
Hello guys, I'm a newbie here I'm trying to run a storefront with osCommerce, can you please take a look at my store Mexicurios Store and let me know what you think (please be honest, I'm a grown up lol). I'm really familiar with Perl and auction software, I've been doing them for years now, in regards to PHP I'm still trying to digest the code and learn from it. I hope I can contribute to this wonderful community. Thanks Guys! Regards, Mark
etepalusip
Very good start with the header and footer and page background image....if you can use the header button design in place of the stock osc buttons, it should look great.
linuxmaster1979
Hi Mark, I think the site is off to a great start. Very nice header and footer. Here a couple of suggestions that i think will lend to the design you got going.... 1. I like the background image of the site, but the white doesn't work for me... maybe try a yellowish tan color with the repeater. I should soften it up a bit and bring the content out a little better. 2. Try a darker blue tone on the side menus. It will make the orange popout more. 3. Remove all the stock icons that show up and/or replace them. They don't fit too well, but then again they don't go with most sites... :) 4. Change the default buttons... maybe something orange and unobtrusive? I think the site is looking awesome, and I love the logo! Keep up the good work! Guest
as you will find out, php is fairly easy if you have been programming with other languages. dont know if it was me or not, the site did take a bit to load for me. on another note, your domain name needs to go into your profile, as it is against forum rules for it to be displayed. Guest
Great! I will do... Thanks guys... I will make some changes and see how it looks as suggested! I still have a LONG ways to go... I'm having some problems understanding why php code is embedded in the html... I guess everybody has lots o questions when learning another language! <_< BTW... anybody knows a good contribution for thumbnails? simple but effective. There are too many and I want to set them up B4 getting into heavy modifications. Gracias Amigos! Regards, Mark
zoomer
Try the MoPics contrib for the thumbnails - works good but its alittle awkward at times. Once you get the hang of PHP its alot more intuitive than perl for web programming. You just have to get over the cgi mindset. Good looking site. ♥MYC267
I don't know why "I just like it"... the header and footer look great but I think you need to blend it throughout the site, it just doesn't look right. Get rid of the "796 requests since Wednesday 28 January, 2004"... cause who cares?? And do you want potential competitors to get info on your site? NO WAY!!
