Guest
I'm having some problems with the whole database thing. I'm using ipowerweb and they've been SLOW in responding to any problems. Here's what I have. I'm trying to build a new store. I created the mySQL database using the cpanel on ipowerweb. Now I'm trying to import by doing this: New Installation Database Import Please enter the database server information: Database Server: localhost Username: larry Password: ******* Database Name: db1 ------- and this is the error message I get: A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Access denied for user: 'larry@localhost' (Using password: YES) Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. Any ideas? I think I have all permissions set like they're supposed to be. Guest
if you check again in the control panel, it gives you the full path to the database, it is most likely db1_useraccountname
Guest
Here's what they give me in control panel: beeguysc_larry (that's the user) beeguysc_db1 (that's the database) I have the password. I still get the error: Access denied for user: 'beeguysc_larry@localhost' (Using password: YES) I've set permissions for catalog/includes/config.php and catalog/admin/includes/config.php I tried 777 and 706. Any other things I should try?

Guest
Got that..thanks. I've copied the catalog/admin folder to the root (and changed the name of it). Can I now delete the orginal catalog/admin folder with no problems?
Guest
I had same prob...heres what to do for sure no, Im sure of this... 1. add db 2. add user 3. add user to db (all on same page...its there) You have to associate the added user to the added DB, its a 3 step process. see where it says...access levels all some none etc... its in the middle of the page
