Guest
I want to bne able to force users to log in to their accounts before being able to use the store. Also want to remove ability for users to create their own accounts as all users must be approved before being able to use the store. Tried to search but could not find anything relevent. Guest
Tried to search but could not find anything relevent. I'm not surprised. I have to ask....do you WANT customers? IMHO, people like to browse what you have before they create an account or buy. If you force people to create an account before you let them even browse your site, it seems to me that are not going to have a lot of customers. I want to bne able to force users to log in to their accounts You want users to log into their account, yet Also want to remove ability for users to create their own accounts you don't want to let them create an account? How are people going to log into something that you won't let them create? How do they get an account? Are they supposed to write to you first to get permission to open one? And as they are not allowed to create one, are they then expected to email you their information so that you can create the account for them? NO ONE is going to be prepared to go through that much rigmarole just to look at a site. I'm sorry...but I do not see the logic behind what you want to do. Perhaps you could enlighten me... mtimdog
Try thinking of a more USER-friendly mod like not showing prices unless user is logged in so that they can at least browse teh site. Otherwise, why even have logins, just put password-protect the entire site using .htaccess and add users to the .httpassword file when you need to
Guest
I have to ask....do you WANT customers? The site is to be used for specialist sales business to business where customers must have a full business account with the supplier before being able to buy. This is perfectly normal business practice in the UK. The opening screen will allow users to apply for an account.
Guest
THat is perfectly noirmal in the US as well. People get caught up in thinking that everyone using OSC is using it for a retail site that is open to the public. Hope you find a solution. The .htaccess suggestion seems like a good solution until you find the exact solution you are looking for. Perhaps your home page should be accessible to anyone. From there you will have only a link to your store w\hihc will then require an ID and Password in order to enter after clicking.
Guest
This contribution may help. Perhaps there is a simpler one but I could not find it... http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1575

Guest
Yes, I'm sorry, I can see that now...I wasn't thinking of that. There is another contribution that would allow visitors to see what you have, but not to view pricing unless they are logged in. You could perhaps combine it with the contrib cxm322 suggested for more tighter control over adding new users. Check this one out: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...ons,601/page,
