passenger57
Hi, I am new to osCommerce. I installed it and it works great. I was wondering it it is possible to make Sign-up optional. That way if someone just wants to purchase something and go straight to check out, then they could bypass the sign-up part. Sometimes when buying online I prefer that, so I can expedite the process. thanks!
dbotkin
That would be a fantastic feature to have. A lot of people don't WANT yet another user ID and password at yet another web site. I know I've had people not buy because of it.
Noobish-n-stuff
download the "Purchase Without Account" contribution. your customers will then have the choice of setting up an account or just filling in their info at checkout.

dbotkin
Wish I could. I have had absolutely no luck trying to upgrade to 2.2 without completely trashing my entire database (and site). I spent probably 30 or 40 hours trying, but of course in the mean time more transactions and customers are added... when you're having to manually edit database records, this quickly turns into a losing battle. When I installed the version my hosting provider (Page-Zone) had available I didn't realize that a.) it was old, and b.) there apparently exists no way to upgrade more than one minor rev at a time, and even then it doen't look like it's consistent. So unless I want to just abandon my database, it seems I'm stuck with what I have, unless someone has some sage words of advice. It'll probably work for Noobish though. passenger57
It worked great. I had a problem with my old store..I sold products through CCNOW and had moderate montly sales. Then I switched completely to Paypal and it went to 0 sales a month. I think its because people dont want to deal with setting up accounts with passwords where when they only want to make a single impulse buy and have no plans to buy more in the future - or with a store with limited products - in my case I have only 10 products. - Just CDs and t-shirts for my band Its always good to give people options in order to expidite the sale anyway. thanks B)
