install issues with configure.php permissions

Im doing the automatic install, have everything working nicely until the point where it wants me to change permissions on this file. I changed it, per the error page's request to 706, 777 and 444 even, per someone's recommendations on this forum. No dice, it wont get past it. Any ideas what I can do to finish the install and get on with life?

Yes, Im on a unix server, and (unfortunatley, stuck with it) ipowerweb.

Thanks in advance for your help,

J

Funny, I'd cry about being stuck with a windows server LOL

Anyway, if it is a permissions problem chmod 777 will fix the problem.

Such as:

chmod 777 /var/www/html/catalog/includes/configure.php

chmod 777 /var/www/html/catalog/admin/includes/configure.php

Hope that helps.

No, unix rocks. What sucks is ipowerweb. no shell acess, and they installed 2.1 unbenownst to me. Cant wait til my year is up.

Well, my programmer came thru in the last minute and saved the day. He had to change permissions on all THREE instances of that file, since the one I changed that the install prompted me to fixdidnt do it. He also imported my old database, brilliantly. So, now Im live and tryign to find where everything is...I just nicely got moved into 2.1 when I realized it was the older version. So where are all the color and font variables? The .css file doesnt see mto be the right thing......

Thanks for the help,

J
