VAT Tax Exempt

I am designing a website that trades in the UK only and has VAT added to all it's products.

A customer can claim VAT exemptions on some products and no exemption on some.

My problem is if they want to buy products with VAT and Products with VAT exemption how do I set up OSC to recognise this so that they only pay VAT on the one not on the other?

I have looked around for a solution but cannot find any.

All help will be gratefully accepted.

I would also like help with this.

We sell mobility products, some of which are taxable and some are not but only to people who are eligible to buy mobility items without tax. This is in the UK.

So I need to firstly have a check box or something for the customer to check to confirm that they are exempt from paying tax on the appropriate items and once the check box has been checked the tax is removed from the shopping cart.

However they may also buy items which are not tax exempt so how would it work around that, so that it adds the correct tax to the items not exempt including shipping and not add tax to the rest.

I hope that all made sense.

Thanks for any help at all from anyone

Michael

this one is more reasonable than the one i came across recently that tried to split vat on delivery charge based on zero rate item(s) and standard rate item(s) in the same order. TBH i wouldnt be bother with that one - just look at the supermarkets: they charge a flat fee for delivery whatever is in your order, be it food (zero vat) or alcoholic drinks (surely vat will be charge), or both (in which case they should split the vat in the delivery charge, right? dont think so).

for this one, two things come into my mind:

1. 2 new properties would need to add to the customers table (to signal customers who could be vat exempted but customers must login to enjoy the privilege), and to the products table (to indicate this product could be vat exempted;

2. if the customer is vat exempt and the product(s) could be vat exempt, then that the price for the product(s) would not calculate vat on all ordering pages.
