akasharkbow Posted January 23, 2004 Share Posted January 23, 2004 Hello all. I was talking with one of my clents and they said that VISA was giving them a hard time for using osCommerce. They are using the regular store and punching in the numbers on their own teminal. VISA said that was better then using an online payment company. VISA said that they should only be using VISA approved shopping cart programs. Does anybody know anything more about this? This was VISA Canada. Guest Posted January 23, 2004 Share Posted January 23, 2004 this is a fallacy, they are trying to 'upsell' you on something. many companies accept visa/amex/mc/discover here. speak with your bank, a merchant clearing house, there are sites which list many merchants. a credit card is a credit card, it could be because they dont know what they are doing or know their own gateway. have they programmed a site with oscommerce? what is the link? i doubt very seriously they have even done that. TerryK Posted January 23, 2004 Share Posted January 23, 2004 If your client is using osC without encrypting the cc data, then it may be that they are in non-compliance of Visa's merchant agreement. I received an amended agreement about a year ago which dealt specifically with the handling of customer credit card info, and encryption of data was near the top of the list, if memory serves me correctly. (I'm also in Canada btw.)
