I have trawled through the forums and cant find an answer to this question.

When a new user signs up to my cart they get back to the main page where it says

Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?

when they try to log in they just go straight back to the main page??

I have managed to get a script which I use to fix the problem which was supplied in a post I found which changes the customers.customers_default_address_id from 0 to 1 which it should be "I think" and I have to run that to allow acces to new customers.

does anyone know of a fix I presume its a database thing?? its driving me mental... help!!!

This issue is also referenced in this forum article.

Unfortunately either it is so newbie that moderators or gurus ignore it, or no one has a clue.

I'm having the same problem on multiple sites.

If you follow the link above you can see the troubleshooting I've logged so far.

The real problem is how can this be an effective commerce solution if none or only some patrons can access the items???

I am having customer log in issues as well and can't seem to shake the problem, I know my config file is spot on.

For me I have 2 problems:

1) When a customer creates an account they are not automatically logged in.

2) When a customer tries to log in it doesn't work BUT if they add an item to their cart then log in it loges them in. That's just wierd.

Hey Squiro,

I tried your site and was able to login and view account settings as well as add product to cart and begin the checkout process.

Did you change or fix something?

Herkermer I have a script that I found in a post that changes the Customer Default Address Fixer and so I run that pretty often so no one really has a problem well thats the theory..

Im going to look at your investigation on the matter thanks mate...
