HOW TO Reset Admin Password???

Guest

Recommended Posts

I've noticed a number of posts on the forum about resetting the admin password through PHPMyAdmin, etc., but none are definitive. Can anyone give a straight step-by-step answer for resetting the Administrator password?

Not using any admin contributions.

Desperate!

Thanks!!!

do you know what the password is? and what do you mean by admin password? if you are not using any admin addons, then there is no admin password.. you need to be a bit more explicit.

No, I don't know what the password is. This would be the password to the admin control panel for the latest release of OSC (I haven't added any "admin" contributions myself, I was working on this site a couple weeks/months ago and had to move on to another project. I'm back now and can't remember the password.).

ok, what is a link to the page you are trying to get to, then we can determine what you are talking about, as again, the default latest release of osCommerce contains no addons, absolutely notihing for a password.

Ok, I asked him to logon to his host server's control panel and in there remove the protection that is enabled on the admin folder then recreate it with a username and password that can be rememvered. this basically is an htaccess file setting, username and password are forgotten and must need to reset it. not an osCommerce error.

ok this is an .htaccess password you can remove this file this gives you access again. You can recreate the file using the hosting panel provided by your host

you got there first John

Got it! Ok, there is a .htpasswd in the /shop/admin/ folder. I deleted everything after the username (i.e. the encrypted password), went back to the web page, entered my username, left the password blank, and I'm in. I assume I will be able to reset my password from the control panel now.

Thank you!!!!!

It is a method for just gaining access, however it is not what I or John were wanting you to do.
