Please someone help me, i'm lost on this one

I have searched the forums etc to try to solve my problem without avail.

I have just set up an os commerce store, installed all as described on the support site, deleted install and removed the sample cats, prods and customers etc and all is fine ...

first few categories all set up correctly without products, but now when i add a new category i get the new category with all the products from the other categorys. The products also stay where they were in the first place, thus giving me more and more duplicated products.

Is this meant to be or have i a problem?

I can of course delete all the duplicates but this will take for hours, is there somewhere i can look for the problem?

Please please someone help as this store is for my son and he is a typical 19 year old and blaming dad. Trouble is dad can't figure it. :(

Cheers in advance to the saviour of my cause. :D

It sounds like the information was still in your database from when you went to delete and has repopulated

No longer giving free advice. Please place deposit in meter slot provided.  Individual: [=] SME: [==] Corporation: [===]
If deposit does not fit one of the slots provided then you are asking too much! :P

Is your Osc dated try Phoenix  raising oscommerce from the ashes.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

Would it be worth stopping adding anything more and deleting the duplicates direct from the database and seing if it continues do you think?

Not sure if this helps but i have deleted all the duplicates in the database. they still show in the products list, however. now i have added another new category and one of the other products has again appeared.

I am really confused and frustrated now.
