What ever you choose as this is just a figure 1.0 could be any of the ones you have stated and if you were to use tabled shipping this figure would be reflected there

It is true that the measurement can be anything you wish - I use grams.

 

But some shipping modules have text which says lb(s), zones.php for instance. And if you wish to use anything other than pounds, that text will need to be changed in the appropriate language file for the shipping method you wish to use.

 

I also found osc spat the dummy when I tried using kg. I put in weight in decimals of less than 1 eg 0.1 and it didn't like it at all. So I had to change to grams.
