So I would like to add an extra field to the registration form. Besides the company name I would like to have a field company tax number. So I need an extra field in the registration "create account" page. I don't know what an EIN number is but that doesn't matter, as long as the customers can fill in a number. Another difference is that the VAT number is not a "required" field. It's only required when they fill in a company name and therefore ordering in name of a company.
